Q: TYPE OF FISHING THAT YOU DO AND SPECIES YOU TARGET MOST
A: I spend April to November fishing the rocky coasts of Connecticut and Rhode Island in search of trophy striped bass.

Once the winter settles in and the cold, foul weather shows up you can find me walking on one of CT’s many northern pike lakes in search of a gator.

Q: FAVORITE STORMR PRODUCT
A: My favorite STORMR product would have to be the surf top. I do all my saltwater fishing in a wetsuit from the surf, and two of the best months (June and October), tend to be quite cold and windy. For years I had searched for the perfect surf top and I was never able to find it. Tops that are light and flexible aren’t warm enough, tops that are warm enough are so bulky I can’t move and the few tops that are quality are outrageously priced. The STORMR surf top was designed by serious surf-casters and not a detail was overlooked. It offers great warmth, a wind-barrier and added buoyancy in a light flexible package. The top can had for nearly half the price of some other quality tops on the market making it a no-brainer for any serious surf-caster.

Q: FAVORITE FISHING SPOT
A: A good surf-caster never tells. Plus it would be hard to pick just one, I have a number of small, local surf-casting spots and picking a favorite would depend on the tide and conditions on a particular night.

Q: FAVORITE STORMR DEALER
A: That would be a toss-up between River’s End in Old Saybrook, CT and Fishin Factory 3 in Middletown, CT.

There is not a better saltwater shop in Connecticut or western Rhode Island than River’s End. The guys offer just about anything you may need and are just a wealth of knowledge. Despite being a big shop they know most of their customers on a first name basis and the shop still has the feel of a small-town shop.

Andrew at the Fishin Factory also runs one of the best shops in CT. Despite being inland he always has fresh saltwater bait and an excellent tackle selection. His freshwater bait and tackle is second to none. Andrew is always willing to help his customers out which includes sometimes having to open his shop during non-business hours.

Q: TYPE OF BOAT
A: No boat just yet, I prefer the challenge of hunting stripers from the shore where limited access and tough conditions tend to present a problem.

Q: FISHING ACHIEVEMENTS
A: Top finisher in On the Water’s Striper Cup surf category the last two years including a 52.5 pound striped bass which was the biggest surf caught bass of the tournament last year.
2nd place finish in WPLR’s Striper Challenge and the only competitor to weigh in a fish from the surf.

Multiple 40+ inch pike through the ice.

Q: TYPE OF FISHING THAT YOU DO AND SPECIES YOU TARGET MOST
A: Wetsuiting fish 99% of the time for big striped bass in RI, MA and CT. Some freshwater for carp, LMB, trout.

Q: FAVORITE STORMR PRODUCT
A: Typhoon jacket for wetsuiting, Stryker jacket for outdoor activities and wader fishing.

Q: FAVORITE FISHING SPOT
A: Cuttyhunk Island, MA. Its scenic, quiet, peaceful, beautiful and the last few trips the fishing has been great.

Q: FAVORITE STORMR DEALER
A: Saltwater Edge.

Q: FISHING ACHIEVEMENTS

A: No Tournament wins, yet I do 99% catch and release. Keep maybe 2 or 3 fish a season to cook for family/friends Largest fish was over 40lbs, right before Hurricane Sandy. I didnt get a good weight or picture because fishing alone 75 yards from shore makes it tough.

FINAL WORDS:

Award Winning RI Chef at Luxe Burger Bar for Chow Fun Food Group.
I fish 120-140 days a season for stripers, usually fish alone. I build my own plugs and wrap my own rods. I like helping new people to the sport and giving back. I practice catch and release 99% of the time. I’m a native of Warren, Rhode Island who’€™s been fishing forever, starting with freshwater excursions as a kid. Now surf fishing is my primary passion. Award winning chef by day, and modest fisherman by night, searches the shores of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Montauk, Block Island (all the good places!) for big striped bass which I primarily catch and release.

I am a full time fly fishing guide. I guide in the saltwater offering clients walk and wade and boat trips fly fishing for striped bass, bluefish, false albacore, and fluke along the Jersey Shore. During April and May I offer clients guided fly fishing float trips in a McKenzie style drift boat for wild brown and rainbow trout on the Upper Delaware River system.

FISHING ACHIEVEMENTS
My greatest achievement is to have return clients or have clients crossover and try fly fishing for the first time. It’s also great to take anglers out of their comfort zone and have them try something new. Putting a 5wt dry fly rod in someone’s hand and floating down a picturesque river when they are used to throwing a 10wt rod standing in a big surf, and vice versa, always makes for a great day.
